Wrestling with Daddy!

Wow! Where to start with this guy. He keeps us hopping. And laughing! Lawson is so full of energy and always seems to be on the go. But he will sit still to watch a favorite movie or snuggle with me or Lawson.

• He weighs around 31 pounds. He is wearing 3T clothes, but can fit in some 2T things as well. He's a skinny guy. His shoe size is a 9, but we got him a size 10 pair of sandals for the summer. He has a pair of tennis shoes that are his "fast" shoes. Thanks Grammie and Mimi for the shoes!:)
• He loves macaroni and cheese. He could eat it every day. He also likes chicken nuggets, french fries, rice of all kinds, Spaghettios, hot dogs, chicken noodle soup, cheese, peanut butter, crackers, fruit and beans. As far as veggies go, he will always get them on his plate and he will try them, but does not care for them right now. He enjoys yogurt, oatmeal, cereal or fruit bars for breakfast. And toast. Lawson eats toast every morning for breakfast, so Baby Lawson always wants a piece as well. He wants to be just like his daddy. He also loves sweets, just like his daddy and Pawpaw.
• He loves to play outside. He always wants to find bugs, lizards and snakes. Yes, snakes. And Lawson feeds the obsession. We love to go to the zoo and the McWane Center. His favorite exhibit are the sharks. He knows to touch them with two fingers and he knows the names of the species of sharks as well. He loves to go to the park too. His favorite thing to do is go down the big slides.
• His speech is so good! He says the funniest things, usually when he wakes up in the morning, after nap time and before he goes to bed. He likes to tell me I have a "long nose" and Judah has a "long head". Not sure about that. For a while he would mispronounce words which was cute. Pony was "ponky", donkey was "bonkey" and bumpy was "bunky". Lawson got some Vibram FiveFinger shoes and Baby Lawson likes to look at them and say, "Those shoes are cute!". He thinks my flats are "dancing shoes" and will bring them to me and put them on me and ask me to dance. Yesterday he wanted a snack, so he went to the pantry and said, "Hmmmm, what kind of snack do I want? Let's see!" Then he proceeded to tell me the pantry was a "messy mess". He will sometimes say he is scared and want to get in our laps. And at night when we are snuggling in his bed, he will tell me to keep him safe. He enjoys talking about his school friends. One of his friends, JoJo always makes the stories. When my parents were in for my birthday, Lawson was being loud and Dad said "shhhhhh" and Lawson responded, "Who's sleeping?" To which he laughed and now Lawson does it all the time. When we were at Chick-fil-a, playing on the indoor playground, he was climbing up the stairs and saying he was strong, he was "Super Goofy!" There are so many things he says! I need to be better about writing them down.
• His favorite shows are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Dora. And occasionally Go, Diego, Go. He loves the Mickey Mouse shows that are about space and will sing the songs and yell for "Toodles". Movies are still the same ones: Nemo, Monster's Inc, The Lion King, Tarzan, the Incredibles, Kung Fu Panda. I have been trying to get him to watch more Veggie Tales movies, so hopefully he will start to enjoy those more.
• His favorite toy is anything Judah has. As soon as Judah picks something up, he wants it. He likes playing with balls and cars, but doesn't have to play with certain ones or he doesn't want to only play with certain things. Anything is fair game when he is playing.
• He is enjoying books more. He likes a Backyardigans book that has "Giant Tasha". When I try to read him a story, he will let me read most of the book, but then wants to take it away and read it to me.
• He loves to be with me and Lawson. He is not very good about playing by himself. We have to put him in his room and shut the door and he will play in there, but he won't just go to his room to play.
• Every night before we go to bed we pray with Lawson. A couple of nights ago we were talking about going to school and he said that "Perry (one of his classmates) was sick". So we prayed for him. Then we had to pray for all his other friends too. And several times for Perry. It was so sweet! We also talk about all the things that Jesus made. He is very interested in what people make and how things are made.
• We are working on first time obedience. We are teaching Lawson that when we say his name, he comes to us and says "Yes ma'am" and then we tell him what we need to tell him. It's getting there slowly but surely. We also talk about the "No interrupt" rule. That is a tough one. We are teaching him that if we are talking to someone, and he needs to say something, he is to put his hand on our arm and we will acknowledge that he is there and then finish up and then address him. That is not working quite as well. He always wants to get in our faces if we are talking to other people. Or when we are on the phone.
• We are realizing that he hears everything we say and will often repeat it. He has also learned to remember what we say. If we say we will take him outside, don't think he won't forget about it. He keeps us honest.

We have a wonderful boy! He is energetic and keeps us on our toes and we love him so much! We can't wait to see what happens in the next year!
