Zoo with friends

On Friday, Lawson and I loaded up the camera, video camera, snacks, sippy cup, zebra and stroller to head to the zoo to see the animals with friends.

We met Mrs. Gloria and Nathan and Caroline and Mrs. Sarah and Sophie. It was a beautiful day. The weather was cool and we had a great time walking around the zoo. The kids enjoyed the animals and Gloria, Sarah and I enjoyed talking about anything and everything.

We got to see the red panda walking around and climbing on the tree branches in his cage. Lawson (the dad) was bummed he didn't get to see this, because the red panda is his favorite and it is always sleeping when we go to see it.

The monkeys were jumping all over the place. One monkey was eating a very juicy piece of celery (weird) and the black spectacled monkeys were very busy. There is a baby spectacled monkey too and he was with his mom. It was so cute. We finally got to see the spider monkeys and Gloria had a bag of cheerios that she was feeding Nathan and the monkeys recognized that it was food and came to the window. When she would hold her hand out with cheerios, they would try to swing off their branch to get them. It was cute. The gorilla was up and about too.

When we walked to the cat house, the Indochinese tiger was up and at 'em, but the Siberian tiger was taking a nap. The kids loved the tiger. He was really close to the glass so they could see him very well. The lion was growling and looking at the giraffes. Maybe he wanted lunch. We saw some birds (Lawson's favorites) and the sea lion and reptiles. We got to take Gloria and Caroline and Nathan on the Alabama Wilds trail, which they have never done. All in all, it was a fantastic trip. Except at the end, where Lawson had a melt down. Not sure why, but for the last five minutes of the zoo trip, he was not happy. When we go home, he ate lunch and went right to sleep. Good thing...because we had a big night planned.
