Christmas Day

This year we spent Christmas in North Carolina. My in law's have moved to Florida but still have their mountain home. Snow was predicted so my sister-in-law, her husband, and her children came over on Christmas eve and we settled in for a white Christmas (and the possibility of being snowed in for several days). We woke up to falling snow that fell all day. The kids were so excited to see their huge stockings and all the presents under the tree. Well, Judah would just get one present and want to play with it and not open any other gifts. Unless they were ones that were not his. Lawson also wanted to help open gifts and thought that all the presents were for him.





















































After opening the presents, we ate breakfast, played with toys and decided to bundle up the kids to go out to play in the snow. Several snow balls flew threw the air (mainly directed at me, but that has to be because I was throwing them at everyone). Terri and Lawson had bought some sleds, so there was some fun (and slightly scary) sledding down the road.




































We brought the kids in soaking wet and frozen, but happy. After lunch and hot chocolate, Lawson went down for a nap, where we found him sleeping on the bed, surrounded by his toys. He was a huge fan of his gifts.








Terri, Brooke and I started on Christmas dinner and around 5 pm, the power went out. We improvised and cooked everything we could on the stove and had veggies and fried ham.





It was a lovely candlelit dinner. After dinner we had a birthday cake for Baby Jesus and sang to him, whole my father in law told the story of Jesus' birth. A fire was built in the fireplace and we all hung out in the living room, watching Toy Story 2 on the iPad and talking about the day and memories of Christmas. It was a lovely, lovely day. Lawson and I are so blessed to have a wonderful family.
