2nd Birthday Party

Lawson's 2nd birthday party went off without a hitch! My parents and Lawson's parents and sister's family were all in to celebrate. We all went out to dinner to the Purple Onion the night before where Lawson and Alyssa had fun running around the fountain, throwing money in the fountain (they figured out my dad always has a ton of change) and sticking their head under a smaller fountain. That was gross. Daddy Lawson let them do that.

Throwing money in the fountain.

The next morning we had the birthday party at Homewood Park. It was a breakfast birthday party. I wanted it to be early to try to beat the heat, but it was still pretty hot. There was a nice breeze, but it kept blowing things off the table. A small price to pay to try to keep cool. Lawson enjoyed running around and playing with his friends. His friends that attended were James, John-Mark, Kensey, Sophia, Madi, Lilly, Addie Jane, Bradley, Aliza, Braxton, Payton, Dalton, Ellie and KJ, as well as cousins Alyssa and Jaron. We had an Elmo cake from Edgar's (their strawberry cakes are the best). It was too windy to blow out the candles so we had to pretend. The bubble machine and sidewalk chalk were big hits. When it came to opening presents, Lawson only wanted to play with the first toy he opened up, so DeeDee and I ended up opening up most of them. He got lots of fun things, including a tricycle from his Mimi and Papi and a season pass to the McWane Center from his Grammie and Pawpaw. There was a bubble mower and wonder markers and Yo Gabba Gabba toys and balls (one of which he ate. He has a fascination with footballs and Sophia got him a spongy eagle football. When he took his nap after his birthday party, I stuck the football in his crib with him. When I went to get him up there was spongy material all over the floor. I asked him what he was eating and he said "football". Sure enough, the eagle face of the football was gone. Weird.) There were sand toys and water toys and bathtub toys and all sorts of wonderful things! He has enjoyed playing with every single thing!

We had to get a picture with Mimi and Papi later because it got hot at the party and Lawson was not wanting to stop playing and running around to get group shots.

After the party, I got went to Toys R Us to get a swimming pool for Lawson. I also had to take both the dads. Lawson (my father-in-law) wanted to go to Macy's to get some Gator blue chino shorts and he and my dad LOVE Academy Sports, so we had to go there too. When we got home, we filled up the pool and put Lawson and Alyssa in it. Lawson preferred to get in and out of the pool and throw things in it. He would also put one foot in the pool and one foot out of the pool and walk around the side. Alyssa would actually "swim" around in the pool. Then they were easily persuaded to get out of the pool and have Popsicles.

Thanks to all our friends and family who helped make Lawson's 2nd birthday so special! We love you all!!!!!
