Judah is 18 months old! Where did my baby go? He is definitely a toddler now. Lawson and I always comment on how "grown up" he looks. But, he still looks like a baby sometime and we think that is due to his hair, or the lack thereof. He has a bit of a mullet going on. At least it's a curly mullet, so it does prompt discussions and comments.
Stats: We will go to the doctor mid February, so I will have to come back and add his weight, height and head circumference. At 15 months, he had dropped to 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height. His head is still big. To house his big brain!:) He is wearing 18-24 month clothes and could probably fit in some 2T things as well. We buy his shoes at a local shoe store and they will size children's feet and then get a shoe that is a size bigger, I guess to help out the parents and not make them buy shoes every other month. He went from a size 5 to a size 8. This lets me know that the reason he wouldn't keep any shoes on was because they were hurting his feet. He still wears a size 4 diaper, but can wear a size 5 as well. These seem to work better at night.
Foods: Judah is a pretty good eater. He does not like cheese. This baffles me. How can you not like cheese? I thought all kids liked cheese. He eats eggs, cereal, fruit bars, all kinds of fruits, chicken, peanut butter crackers, rolls, spaghettios, hot dogs, mashed potatoes, gummies, and other various things we put in front of him. He is always good to try a food and if he doesn't like it, he will spit it out. Unfortunately he watches Lawson, who doesn't like much at all, and will follow his lead. He is out of the high chair and sits in a booster seat at the table with us. It keeps my blinds a lot cleaner.
Toys:
Judah likes to play with anything that Lawson has. He and Lawson got a train set for Christmas, so he likes to take the train tracks apart. He is fascinated by that. He and Lawson both got Woody dolls and Buzz Lightyears for Christmas. We have found that it's easier to get the boys the same thing as they both want what the other has if we don't. He loves balls and has figured out he can turn most anything into a gun. He will let me read books to him, which Lawson never did. He loves books that have "lift-the-flaps". He also has a stuffed panda that he will sleep with, but doesn't care if it's not around when he goes to sleep.
Words:
Needless to say, Judah is not verbose. Which as a speech therapist, has me keeping an eye on him. He can say Mommy, Daddy, DeeDee, Mickey, cracker, cookie and uh-oh. He doesn't imitate what we say either. We aren't sure if it's because his brother talks all the time, or of there is something going on. He does like to make a loud noise like "unh, unh, unh" when he wants something. He will get us by the hand and lead us to whatever it is that he wants. He also will look at something and make the "unh, unh, unh" and point his finger. It's as if he is a dictator and is yelling at the peasants. All he needs is a little moustache. His receptive language is great! We can tell him all kinds of things and he knows exactly what we are talking about. (With the exception of "Get off the coffee table." For some reason, he can't grasp that.)
Movies/TV:
Judah loves, loves, loves, Curious George. Which has to be one of the most boring cartoons ever, but he will sit and watch a whole episode. He also enjoys Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the Backyardigans. And the intro to Martha Speaks.
Other talents:
Judah loves to dance. When we play music he will start bending his knees and bob up and down and swing his right arm. Quite cute. He loves to play "Peek-a-boo" and will get in the chair and bend down and then pop up over it, or hide behind something and stick his head out. He can jump and kick a ball. He can also throw a ball too. He is bow-legged, which according to my friend's brother, who is a sports trainer, is a sign of athleticism. Something about being able to balance well and how weight is carried on the hips. We shall see. He loves bath time and will stay in there for hours. He is also a snuggle bug. He is not always sleeping through the night, so I will sometimes put him in our bed and he will roll over and want to put his hands in my hair.
Temperament:
Judah is so easy going, but he will throw a fit with the best of them. He likes to bend over at the waist and yell and then fall on the ground like he is sliding into home plate. He has also learned a bad behaviour by watching his brother and that is jumping and stomping when something happens he doesn't like. He is a funny, giggly, boy who loves his mama, daddy and brother. He is also quite find of BeeBee and DeeDee. I think it's because they let him do whatever he wants. Because he's so cute.
